About PlayGrove
What is PlayGrove?
PlayGrove is an independent, informational almanac about games. We write plain-language guides on how games play, explain the main genres, and spotlight titles worth trying — for tabletop and screen alike.
Do I need an account to use the site?
No. Everything on PlayGrove is free to read and there is nothing to sign up for. Just open a page and start reading.
Do you sell games here?
No. PlayGrove is purely informational. We describe how games play and what makes them fun, but we don't sell anything on the site.
Learning to Play
I'm brand new to games. Where should I start?
Start on the How to Play page. The 'Learn Any Game in Five Minutes' guide covers the four questions behind every game, and the 'Your First Games' collection points you to gentle titles to try first.
How do I teach a game to friends?
Explain the goal first, then show a single turn instead of reading every rule. Our 'Teaching a Game to New Players' guide walks through the whole approach step by step.
What's the difference between the genres?
The Genres page breaks down strategy, party, adventure, and puzzle games — how each one plays, how many players it suits, and a few examples of each.
Playing Together
How many players do I need for a good game night?
It depends on the game. Party games shine with a big group, strategy games often play best with three or four, and plenty of titles have a solo mode for playing on your own. Each library entry lists its player count.
Are these games suitable for children?
The collections and guides on PlayGrove focus on family-friendly games. The 'Family Game Night Shelf' collection gathers titles that play well with mixed ages.
Can I suggest a game or a topic?
Yes, we'd love that. Use the Contact page to send us a game you enjoy or a guide you'd like to see, and it may feature in a future update.
